At Consolidated Printing Supplies (CPS), we know that outdoor labeling isn’t just about looking good on day one — it’s about staying readable, durable, and professional-looking for years. Recently, a customer approached CPS with a critical need: a label that could withstand **harsh outdoor environments** without fading, peeling, or degrading. Here’s how we engineered a solution that exceeded expectations. --- ## The Customer’s Challenge The customer’s application required labels that would be: - **UV resistant** to prevent ink from fading in sunlight. - **Moisture resistant** to survive rain, humidity, and wet handling. - **Durable** against abrasion and temperature extremes. - **Compatible with their existing application process** without curling, bubbling, or adhesion failure. They had tried other label vendors, but the products faded within months, losing legibility and brand appeal. --- ## CPS’s Label Engineering Process **1. Selecting UV-Resistant Ink** We started with **specialized outdoor-grade UV-resistant inks** that maintain vibrancy even after prolonged sun exposure. These inks are formulated to withstand UV light degradation, ensuring the graphics, text, and barcodes stay crisp and clear. **2. Adding a UV & Moisture-Resistant Laminate** To protect both the ink and facestock, we applied a **premium overlaminate** engineered for outdoor use. This layer acts like a shield, blocking UV rays and sealing out moisture, preventing the ink from washing away, smearing, or cracking over time. **3. Testing for Harsh Conditions** We subjected the label samples to **accelerated weathering tests**, simulating months of sun and rain exposure. The result? Zero noticeable fading, peeling, or adhesion loss. **4. Optimizing Adhesive Performance** We paired the protective layers with an **industrial-grade adhesive** designed for outdoor substrates, ensuring the label remains in place through heat, cold, and wet conditions. --- ## The Result: A Label Built to Last The final CPS outdoor label solution offered: - **Multi-year outdoor durability** - **Full color retention under UV exposure** - **Moisture-proof protection for graphics and text** - **Strong adhesion on a variety of surfaces** The customer now has a label that not only meets compliance and identification requirements but also reinforces their brand image — season after season. --- ## Why CPS for Outdoor Labels? With decades of experience in label engineering, CPS combines **materials science, printing expertise, and real-world testing** to deliver labels that work where others fail.
